Does the sea dream ? I'm sure - we are here, we attend, we are bells on the shore as the tolling suspends.

Just Kids

From the section ‘A Note To The Reader’ in the book Just Kids 2010

Just kids
The air was filled with sweetness
indredible and bright
like a gleaming sari
in the indian wind
fish were in the net
and the salt ran thru our fingers
and tears were swept away
by lover bony hand
and fair companion
fenced their prayers
sketches and linguistics
that glowed like [eerie?] arms
and none could know the price
no soul had ever bid
and under foot the clover
crushed in carelessness
and rows were kept upon the solemn banks
smiles drawn from blood
etched upon a window
pierced with dreams of god
all we ever asked for
all we ever knew
was such incredible
sweetness
that from the well
we drew

Song lyrics in the special edition of the album Banga (2012)

Just Kids - for Robert

Come à Take my hand!

Truth was like a dictionary
Urgent and sublime
We shok ourselves into the light
Like washing on a line
Like a gleaming sari
In the Indian wind
Wrapped in one another
Where pure hearts are kin
Kids Kids Kids Kids

We ventured to the city
To the chelsea hotel
A place to lay our head
A bit of heaven and hell
We entered the halls of our new university
We gave all the keys to you
And you offered them to me
Kids Kids Kids Kids

In the blue night
You were bluer still
(Your ankles tatooed with starts)
So hungry we could not sleep
And another kind of hunger ensued
We called out to Morpheus
To spread his cloaks upon
The world of our ways
à You walked without fear
Toward the golden ladder
And I watched you
Climb rung by rung
Toward another kind of sun
And I went for another cp
And I ran all over my dress
And you drank it up
Kids Kids Kids Kids
(love was love
art was art)
Life to life
Scene to scene
Fortunes strife dream upon dream
